If you think women are not good in sports, you need to look at the volleyball national championship for this year. 2015 was a great year for sports in general, but what’s even better is that women finally got the place that they deserve in the world of sports.
The Nebraska women’s volleyball team is well-known for ambition, as it is the second best team in the country after Stanford. However, seeing how the girls played this year, they can be expected to become the number one team in the next year or two.
The Huskers have not been in the best position lately, and they have not won the NCAA championship since 2006. This year they were victorious over the Texas team, winning 3-0. Nebraska has won 4 National Titles but none of them was as appreciated or desired as this one.
The star of the team was freshman Mikaela Foecke, who was named the Most Outstanding Player. She made 19 points for Nebraska and hit .385. Another incredible player was junior Amber Rolfzen, who added 10 points on 16 swings without errors.
The NCAA championship was held for the first time in Omaha, and it gathered fans from all over the country. Some people think the team performed so well because they were at home and the coach John Cook knew how to motivate the players. Let’s hope that they continue on the path of success!
